A long time ago, there was a boy named Thomas and his mother. They lived in a small hut by the river, Seine River. Thomas was a very naughty boy. He used to dress up in his school uniform but ended up somewhere else. Sometimes, he went to the river for a swim or to the nearby forest to catch butterflies and birds. He asked for some pocket money from his poor mother who trusted him wholeheartedly. Sadly, he cheated his mother.
Thomas never felt sorry and guilty. Instead, he felt proud because he was able to escape from his wrongdoings. He planned his day carefully. Early in the morning, he put on his school uniform, went to see his mother and asked her for consent and blessing before going to school. After that, he went out and took the path to school, waving to his mother who was waiting patiently at the door.
Upon reaching a half kilometer or more, his friend, Donny was already waiting for him. They walked the opposite junction which led to a forest nearby. Looking around for any sign of human, they started to take off their uniforms. Satisfied that nobody was around, they headed to the river and enjoyed swimming in the cool fresh water.
After swimming, they decided to go further into the forest to catch butterflies that they would put into a jar with the other butterflies they had collected.
One day, as usual, while they were enjoying their activities, Thomas saw a very beautiful butterfly flying around. He decided to pursue that beautiful creature.
Without realising the danger being in the forest, Thomas kept running after the butterfly barefooted. Accidentally, he stepped on something that looked like a dead branch. Luck was not on his side. The dead branch was actually a cobra!
He was bitten by the snake and the pain of the bite made him scream with all his might. Donny, who was swimming at that time, ran towards him. He whispered weakly to Donny that a snake had bitten him.
Donny did not know what to do so he ran to the newest house which was Mr. Carlie's house. He ended up as Thomas's saviour. He brought Thomas to the hospital straight away and called Thomas's mother.
Thomas's mother was stunned to hear the bad news. Upon seeing his mother, Thomas begged for her forgiveness and promised to be honest from that day onwards.
